This is our take on traditional beach portraits—easygoing, natural, and a lot of fun. Sessions run about 1–1.5 hours and work beautifully for groups of all sizes. We’ll guide you through relaxed, lightly posed portraits of every grouping you want, then shift into candid, beach fun. Think less standing still, more laughing, wandering, and being together by the water.

Our Documentary Sessions offer 3–6 hours of day-in-the-life coverage, capturing the real magic of your time at the beach—the beautiful, the messy, and everything in between. Think of it as having a family photographer along for your vacation, documenting the laughter, the quiet moments, and the joy as it naturally unfolds. Scheduled for early mornings or mid-afternoons through sunset, these sessions also include time for a relaxed, more traditional beach portrait experience.

What will the session experience be like?
Our sessions are a high energy blend of candid and posed photography. No matter what type of session you’re booking, you’ll stand and sit in the sand, play in the water, walk along the beach, and maybe even climb small dunes. You will get sandy. Your feet (and sometimes more) will get wet!

What is the best time of day for our session?
Beach portraits are 100% based on available light. We don’t want too much or too little - especially in the summer when it gets bright and hot quickly in the day. So our session times are typically within an hour or two of sunrise or sunset.

Where will we have our session?
We'll choose a great beach as close to where you are staying as possible. Know however that weather patterns in the summer can make one beach narrow and another wide -- the wind can be gentle on a north facing beach and strong on a south facing beach. Therefore we may need to alter the original location.

What if it’s windy?
While the saying goes that the weather changes every 10 minutes on the Outer Banks one consistent companion is wind. It's ALWAYS windy. We have an average daily windspeed of 10-15+ mph. As you're preparing for your session keep that in mind! We know the best dune nooks to get tucked into that will help protect you from the wind, but it will always be a little breezy by the ocean.

Should and could we bring pets?
Yes and Yes. We love working with family pets. So, please bring them along! Keep in mind that pets must be on a leash and don't forget to bring them water and treats.
